  • Detours

Who likes detours? Aren't they just an inconvenience? Annoying? or you may think "JUST plain NOT necessary? But what if there was something being fixed? maybe a bridge replaced? Possibly the road "WILL be BETTER once finished? It is just simply not what I had "Planned"? I hadn't fit THIS in to my schedule at all. You have traveled this same road for many years and are zooming down this same path/dirt road/ or highway SUDDENLY to find a Detour looming ahead. What is your response? Do you find yourself in one of the above catergories? So this detour where is it going to take you? Obviously onto some unknown territory, uncharted by YOU before. Or at least not the NORMAL. Do you follow the signs or think YOU know a better way to go? Maybe you are just a bit familiar with where this detour takes you...and you think, ah, easy, I got this one? What if the DETOUR is sooo complicated you find yourself lost in a maze trying to find your way BACK?

I don't like detours. I think they are a waste of time. They can be ever so annoying when you are in a great big hurry and try to cut corners because you didn't figure enough time to get where you were headed.

So what if life takes an unexpected turn? Doesn’t turn out how you had hoped, how you had planned, how you thought it would look. Some DETOURS are small, some medium, others seem so HUGE that they are unbearable. So what is it that can make the DETOUR bearable instead of overwhelming? Be okay rather than anxious? Acceptable rather than bitter? Glorious rather than ugly? Totally a work of GOD?

    TRUST

TRUST, my friend, turns it all around!

Trust Reversesour detours of adversity into highways of destiny!!!

    (Beth Moore)

Do I trust with abandonment? My heavenly Father is completely worthy of such TRUST!!! Praise YOU Jesus!!! You are worthy!!!

  • People you REMEMBER

I received this in an email and thot it is worth sharing with you...

The following is the philosophy of

    Charles Schultz,

    the creator of the

    'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the

    questions. Just read straight through,

    and you'll get the point.

    1. Name the five wealthiest

    people in the world.

    2. Name the last five Heisman

    trophy winners.

    3. Name the last five winners

    of Miss America .

    4. Name ten people who have won the

    Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

    5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award

winners for best actor and actress.

    6. Name the last decade's worth

    of World Series winners.

    How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember

    the headliners of yesterday.

    These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.

    Accolades and certificates are

    buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

    1. List a few teachers who aided

    your journey through school.

    2. Name three friends who have helped

    you through a difficult time.

    3. Name five people who have taught

    you something worthwhile.

    4. Think of a few people who have made

    you feel appreciated and special.

    5. Think of five people you enjoy

    spending time with.

    Was that Easier?

    The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life

are not the ones with the most credentials,

the most money, or the most awards.

They are the ones that care.

So WHO in your life has influenced you and made the biggest difference in your life?  In my life? WAY to many to list! My life is rich and good because of so many people along my path.  my parents, family, sisters, my HUSBAND, my friends from far and wide, sometimes even strangers.  I believe God brings people into my life for seasons.  some stay only for a short period of time, some for many years, nevertheless, they all leave their imprint on my heart.  Yes, I can even look at what I thot maybe was devastation, and see how God turned it into something beautiful in my life!  People have talked me through things and situations.  People have cared when my heart was hurting.  ( i think of some of my friends from so long ago that I hardly ever see anymore)  People have spoken TRUTH to my heart when I NEEDED To hear it.  People have showed me how to love and to accept people through their accepting me as I am.  I have one friend in particular I think of when I think of that. (Thanks, Linda)  =)  Many times God has brought friends and even strangers to cross my path to TELL me something.

...I have to conclude....He makes ALL things beautiful in His time....our hearts...our lives.   Thank him for all of those people He has used to shape you, to mold you, to give you direction, to correct, to love you, to care for you!!!! and the list could go on....

So THANK YOU to everyone who has GIVEN so graciously into my life!!!!

  • Dave and I

In case you don't know Dave and I so well...here is a bit of insight, and if you know us, you may discover things you didn't know about us.  =)

♥ What are your middle names?  Neither one of us have a middle name.  are we deprived?  I used to feel bad as a kid not having a middle name. thot it wasn't fair that mom and dad didn't give us a middle name.  =)  doesn't matter now.  He is David Jr.

♥ How long did you know each other before you started dating? I think it was about 2 years

    ♥ Who asked who out?
    Of course...Dave asked me out

♥ How old are each of you?
    Dave is 36 and I am 37

♥ Whose siblings do/ did you see the most?
I think we spend the same amount of time with either side of the family or at least we try to.  actually we try to see family when ever we can.  My family is in Ohio. Dave's family lives in PA and IL.  I have a sister living here in KY. which i am glad for.  we miss not having family around.

♥ Do you have any children together?
One miscarriage.  and haven't had any since.

    ♥ What about pets?
Our dog: Bucks (Yellow lab)  the absolute best dog. n yeah, he is addicted to watermelon and guards the shell as if his life depends on it.   Then Tigger which is our cat.  the best cat we ever had.  she is a no-nonsense cat, not always at your feet.  likes to be petted but not held.

♥ Did you go to the same school?
No, Dave grew up in PA, and I grew up in OH

    ♥ Who is the smartest?
Book learning and study def comes more easily for me, but when it comes to easy ordinary things, he definitely has more common sense.  maybe its because my brain is too analytical.  i am grateful for his insight many times!

♥ Who is the most sensitive?  I think probably me, but we both have our things we are pretty sensitive about.

♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple?
we like mex, chinese, a good steak, italian,  depends were "out" is.  if we stay in russellville (hometown) we have our fav mexican place we go.  If Bowling green...usually some type of steakhouse.  and for a tip for the frugal ones out there, Dave and I usually split a dinner, we figure we don't need so so much food and of course then don't use as much money either.  now if you are a couple that doesn't enjoy the same type of food this probably wouldn't work for you.  =)

♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
As a couple...Colorado, Minnesota...we both did some globe trotting when we were still single, so it is in our blood.

    ♥Who has the worse temper?
depends if you go according to the one who shows it.  i can stew and fume inside, whereas Dave will be the venting type.  although I am the more easygoing of the two

    ♥ Who does the cooking?
I do most of it.  He is the excellent grill chef though.  Just last week on Friday, i was 'swimming' in my sewing i had to get done before that night.  he texted me and said he was bringing lunch home for me. ( he usually comes home for lunch everyday)  and then that eve, he grilled two of the BEST ribeye steaks, with a side dish of grilled asaragus/onions/mushroomssteak (this pic was of a grill out earlier, but his was as good and tasty) I was so proud of him for his support that day. Wonderful!   you have to understand i was at the sewing machine from 8 in the morn til 8 at night.  yeah, i was about to go dizzy and was wore out.   gotta tell you this one:  the other day he asked me, "how does it feel to just be able to stay at home knowing that you don't have to worry about working to make money to pay the bills and that I take care of that?"  so then the next day after i fixed him a lunch plate I asked him " so how does it feel to always have your meal cooked for you and not have to worry about having to make your own food?"  (don't get me wrong, i sometimes lose my knack/taste for cooking and it suffers bad.  hate those times!)  I think you know the answer each question received.

    ♥ Who is more social?
It kinda depends on the situation, I want to say he is, people usually remember him. although i love to talk with people i tend to be a bit more shy in big crowds than he is.  i am content if i can find one or two persons to talk to, doesn't always have to be the same people.  i don't know really who is more social i guess, maybe we are kinda on the same level there.

    ♥Who is the neat freak?
I am def the neat freak.  he has helped me learn to not be soo picky tho

♥ Who is the more stubborn?
i really am not sure about this one.  =)

    ♥ Who wakes up earlier?
we usually wake up and get up at the same time.

♥ Where was your first date?
At Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant in Mt. Vernon, IL.That's at least where we had our "first" talk.

♥ Who has the bigger family?
I come from a family of 11.  5 boys and 6 girls.  yeah, big, but cant say as i would want to live without any of them. i remember we would ask mom sometimes (when we were younger) why they have such a huge family, and she would in return ask us, "so which one would you want to do without?"  wise mom i have!  Dave comes from a family of 5.  4 boys and 1 girl.  and don't think poor girl.  she keeps up her end quite well.  Dave also is the baby of the family.

♥ Do you get flowers often?
Not very often, but thats okay with me.  its not that i dont love flowers, as i do. but you see, my love language is "quality time"  and so that's REALLY what i love!!!

♥ How do you spend the holidays?
We try to divide it between both families, so either we are in PA, OH, or IL (where his two bro. live)  this past Christmas we stayed in KY.  we do get tired of traveling sometimes.  =)

    ♥ Who is more jealous?
I think i would have more of a problem with this one.

    ♥ Who sleeps more?
we share an equal need on this one.

    ♥ Who eats more?
I would like to think he does  =)  i read somewhere once that a woman doesnt need as many calories so you should always compare your plate to his and make sure it has less food on it.

    ♥ Who does the laundry?
Of course I do.  I love hanging out laundry and Dave appreciates the smell of fresh laundry like that and he lets me know he appreciates it!

♥ Who’s better with the computer?
I am.  He has learned quite a bit tho, and is not computer illiterate. If there is something diff to figure out, I usually am the one tryin to figure it out.
